Irvin "Ed" Cartagena, Sr., age 53, of Lake Station passed away February 27, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 3, 1961 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Cruz and Maria Cartagena.
He was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of the VFW Post #100 in Lake Station.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Cartagena; children, Irvin "Eddie" Cartagena Jr. and Natalie Latice Cartagena; siblings, Felix Lopez, Mike (Hilda) Aleman, Marissa (Luis) Martinez, Cruz (Carmen) Cartagena Jr., Saulo (Connie) Cartagena, Edwin (Jennifer) Cartagena and Illiana (Leon) Reese; mother-in-law, Liduvina Gonzalez; brothers-in-law, Amelio, Ruben and Albert Gonzalez; and sisters-in-law, Alma Gonzalez, Nora (Hugo) Bravo and Sandra (Robert) Otero Sr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cruz and Maria Cartagena and his father in law, Amelio Gonzalez.
Funeral service for Ed will take place Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue Lake Station, IN. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
