M. Isabel Funkhouser, age 80, of Lake Station, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016. She was born on December 3, 1935 in Union Co, Kentucky to the late Joseph M. and Alice C. (nee Bickett) Dayberry. She was a long time St. Mary Medical volunteer. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Isabel is survived by her loving husband William; son, Dennis (Anna) Funkhouser; three daughters, Dianna Carpenter, Carol (George) Danapas and Mary Beth (Willy) Hale; eight grandchildren, Kelly (Cesar), Robert, Katie, Hilary (James) , Sarah, Bill (Rachel) , Hannah and Patrick; three great-grandchildren, Kara, Isabela and William; brother, Robert (Mary) Dayberry; two sisters, Agnes Gibson and Fannie (Ronnie) Beres; two sister –in-law, Betty Dayberry and Ann Marie Dayberry; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph and Richard Dayberry; son –in- law, David Carpenter and brother- in -law, Rudy Gibson

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:30 am at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 2447 Putnam St. Lake Station, with Father Patrick J. Kalich officiating. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery in Portage. A visitation will take place Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 9:00 am -11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368, with 11 am prayers and then processing to St. Francis Xavier for Mass. 219-762-3013 or online at www.
