Ivan "Rex" Miller, age 82, of Hobart and formerly of Hammond passed away Thursday July 28, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family. Rex was born October 26, 1933 in Stewart, Indiana to the late William and Ruby (Cole) Miller. Rex retired from Talos Manufacturing in Chesterton, IN after 38 years of service. In his early years Rex enjoyed fishing, which means he spent most of his time fishing, baiting hooks and removing fish for his children and later grandchildren. He also loved spending time with his family and watching the occasional Cub's game, especially if they won. He played countless card and board games and enjoyed listening to old Hymns and Southern Gospel Music and watching Jimmy Swaggart on TV.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Georgia Miller (Nee Williams); His seven children Steven (Barbara) Miller of Lake Station, Ronald (Sharon) Miller of Hobart, Diana (Ronald) Dunn of DeMotte, Mark (Ruth) Miller of Gary, Leslie Miller of Hobart, Timothy (Jeanette) Miller of Gary and Joseph (Kristina) Miller of Whiting; 21 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and his sister Nancy Hatch of Merrillville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers, 7 sisters, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am Monday August 1, 2016 at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Pastor Tom Potter officiating. Burial will follow in Redwood Cemetery, West Lebanon, Indiana. Friends and family may visit on Sunday July 31, 2016 from noon until 5:00 PM.
