Ivor John Coons, Sr. age 72 a longtime Valparaiso/Hobart resident passed away Monday, December 7, 2020.  He was born on September 12, 1948 in Hobart Indiana to the late Ivor R. and Theresa M. Coons.  Ivor served his country in the U.S. Navy.  He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.  Ivor retired from General Electric where he had worked as a Sales Engineer.  He was a former member of St. Bridget Church, and American Legion Post 54 in Hobart.  He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila, and the Valparaiso Country Club.  His passions were golf and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Shirley Coons (nee Kasonovich) of Valparaiso, IN; three children, Julie (Doug) Remschneider of Valparaiso, IN;  Ivor John (Janelle)  Coons Jr. of Northglenn, CO; Jackie (Shawn) Skaggs of Valparaiso, IN; four brothers, Joe (Diane) Coons, Rick (Diane) Coons, Jeff (Sherri) Coons, Jim (Sabra) Coons, two sisters, Peggy Coons, Rose Purser, and three grandchildren: Julian Reynolds, Lily and Logan Skaggs.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Boby and Susie Koulianos.

Due to Covid 19 all services will be private.   Cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hobart Chapel.  (219) 942-2109.  A celebration of life service will take place at a later date.
