Jack Bellar

Jackie "Jack" T. Bellar, age 79, of Hobart, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017. He was born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas on October 3, 1938 to the late Charles L. and Laura Elizabeth (nee Sinks) Bellar. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a 40 year member of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Valparaiso and also a member of the American Legion. He retired from Inland Steel. Jack loved the outdoors. He was an avid duck hunter, fisherman, golfer, and enjoyed playing all sports.
Jack is survived by son, Nathan (Nicole) Bellar of Hobart; daughters, Jean (Kris) Bellar Fisher of Sault St. Maria, MI, Jennifer (Bill) Bellar Hawkins of Crown Point; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Pierce of Florence, TN, Louie (Sue) Bellar of Hobart, Laura (Bill) Phillips of Jackson, TN; sisters in law, Tina Bellar of Summerville, FL, Dee Bellar of Ogden Dunes; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Ruth Bellar; brothers, Chuck and Larry Bellar; and his parents.
A funeral service for Jack will take place Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Rev. Richard Greene officiating. He will be laid to rest at McCool Cemetery, Portage. Friends may gather with the family on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 2-8 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
