Jack Evan Johns, age 89, of Valparaiso passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Porter County VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso. Jack was born December 13, 1926 in McMechan, WV to the late William and Lyda Mae (Conway) Johns. He was a retired machinist from Inland Steel. Jack was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Jack is survived by four children, Donald (Karol) Johns of Chesterton, Lori (William) Stolley of Burlington, NC, Chet Johns of Valparaiso and Lynda (Frank) Salerno of Western Springs, IL; eight grandchildren Stefanie Davis, Kimberly Britton, Nick Johns, Ashlee Kleman, Michael Stolley, Evan Salerno, Elizabeth Salerno and Ethan Salerno; four great grandchildren, Reese Britton, Remington Johns, Olivia Kleman and Owen Johns; two sisters, Betty Urbanik and Wanda Viars; and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years Elizabeth; his parents; and thirteen brothers and sisters; James, William, Thomas, Kate and Lyda Johns and Daniel, Bonita, Gene, Robert, Charles, Gloria, Nancy and Mary Pavlik.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Avenue Portage, IN 46368. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations are preferred to the Porter County VNA Hospice Foundation 2401 Valley Drive Valparaiso, IN 46383.
