Jack S. Tankersley, age 73, of Portage, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart.  He was born in Copperhill, Tennessee on April 5, 1949 to the late Earl and Eunice (nee Mayner) Tankersley.  He retired from Arcelor Mittal in Burns Harbor.

Jack is survived by his son, Vincent Tankersley; and sisters, Barb (Wayne) Via, Jeanette (R.L.) Wooten.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxie "Joyce" Tankersley; son, Jeff Tankersley; brothers, Jim and Alvin Tankersley; and his parents.

Family and friend may gather for a Memorial Service celebrating Jack's life at Duneland Falls Banquet Center (110 Max Mochal Hwy 149, Chesterton, IN 46304) at 11:00 A.M. on Sunday, July 24, 2022.

Cremation has been entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.  He will be laid to rest at Heritage Cemetery in Portage.  For more information, please call 219-762-3013.
