Jacob Ryan Hoover

Age 34 passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was born on May 29, 1990, in Valparaiso to Catherine Renee (Purcell) Vandiver and the late James Hoover. He was a 2009 Edison High School graduate in Lake Station, and he worked as a truck driver for Strack & Van Til. Jacob was an avid Norte Dame fan and enjoyed being with his family and friends, most of all he loved being with his daughter, she was his whole world. Jacob will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Ayden Rey Hoover; parents, Catherine "Renee" Vandiver and James Vandiver; two sister, Destiney Vandiver and Cassie Vandiver; grandma, Barbara Evans; twin uncles, Jay (Lisa) Purcell and Ray (Wilma) Purcell; aunt, Tracy Purcell; mother of his daughter, Kierria Freeze-Hoover and numerous cousins and many other loving family members and friends.

Jacob was preceded in death by his father, James Hoover, maternal grandparents, Frankie J. and Betty J. Purcell and grandfather, Billie Evans.

A funeral for Jacob will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368. A burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
