JACQUELINE J. "JACKIE" HJERPE (DAILEY), age 74, of Shipshewana, and formerly of New Chicago, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016. She was born in Garyton, Indiana on January 14, 1942 to the late William and Margaret Jamison. Jacqueline retired from US Steel after 30 years of service. She was a Lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, formerly an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing card games with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, William "Brad" Hjerpe; 2 sons, Robert Dailey of Portage and James Dailey of Hobart; 2 stepchildren, Matt Hjerpe of GA and Aimee (Alex Thomas) Hjerpe of CO; 5 grandchildren, Tasha, Jamie, Shawn, Miranda, Austin; great grandson, Elliot; brother, George (Joann) Jamison of Portage; and special friend, Julie Fox of Valparaiso.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Ayers; brother, William T. Jamison, Jr.; and sister, Shirley JoAnn Thompson.
Visitation for Jacqueline will be Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage, from 2:00 -8:00 p.m., with a brief service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Good officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home with cremation taking place at a later time. There will be a private burial of cremains at Calvary Cemetery.
