Jaime Velez, age 68, of Gary passed away Monday October 10, 2016 at his home. Jaime was born July 29, 1949 in Cauguas, Puerto Rico to the late Luis and Lorenza (Rivera) Velez. He was a steel worker that retired from US Steel Gary Works. Jaime was a loving father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed by his family.

He is survived by his four children, Jaime, Jr., Marisol "Gigi", Antonio and Esteban; his eleven grandchildren; his ten brothers and sisters, Esperenza, Elisa, Raymond, David, Noami, Lidia, Aida, Yolanda, Mary and Carmen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be 5:00 PM Saturday October 15, 2016 at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station, IN 46405 with Rev. Dale P. Combs officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
