James L. Dean, age 67, of Lake Station, passed away at home on Thursday, May 25, 2017. He was born in Harvey, Illinois on April 28, 1950 to the late Ancell F. and Carlynn T. (nee Hudson) Dean. James enjoyed listening to the news, music and western movies.

James is survived by his loving wife, Penny (nee Ralph) Dean; brothers, John (Susan) Dean, Robert Dean, Charles (Janice) Dean; father in law, Darrell Ralph; mother in law, Linda Ralph; brothers in law, Tim (Lora) Ralph, Chad (Missy) Ralph, Billy (Heather) Ralph, Jason (Tracy) Ralph; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judi Jaesek; and niece Haley K. Ralph.

A funeral service for James will take place Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Hobart, IN 46342 with Chaplain Joe Mollet officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, just prior to the service, from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Ralph Cemetery in Kentucky. For more information, please call 219-942-2109.
