James David Embry

James David Embry, age 72, a longtime resident of Lake Station, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012. He was born on May 17, 1939 in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, the son of Welby and Anna Evelyn Embry. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He married Lula Gatlin on November 16, 1990 in Valparaiso. Jim was a retired truck driver and owned Embry Trucking. He was a member of the Hobart Moose Lodge and his greatest joy was music.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Lula Embry, Lake Station, sons David Embry, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Dennis Embry, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, daughter Donna Embry, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, step-son Brian Terry, Fort Worth, Texas, step-daughter Stacey (Brian) Kosier, Crown Point, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, brothers Edward (Judith) Embry, Magnolia, Kentucky, and LeRoy (Jane) Embry, Rineyville, Kentucky, sister Sue (Gene) Davis, Valparaiso, and other loving family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Donald Embry.

A visitation for James Embry will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon with Chaplain Craig Forwalter, officiating. Burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
