James E. Ferguson, age 88, of Hobart, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. James was born on January 17, 1929 in Relief, Kentucky to the late Lonnie and Myrtie (nee Blanton) Ferguson. He was a longtime member of Lakewood Baptist Church a retired Crane Operator at LTV and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
James is survived by his wife Estene (nee Hamilton) Ferguson of Hobart; son, and Larry J. (Tammy) Ferguson of Hobart; three grandchildren, Christopher J (Elisa Brown) Ferguson, Courtney M. (Nick) Kilrain and Brittany M. Ferguson; great grandson, Mason Ferguson; three brothers, Charley L (Thelma) Ferguson of Merrillville, Kenneth C (Marendo) Ferguson of Kentucky and Raymond H. Ferguson of Kentucky; three sisters, B. Emogene Ferguson of Kentucky, Mary Mandy (Marion) Lewis of Griffith and Ethel Castle of Kentucky; many nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Blanche Ferguson; son, Mark E. Ferguson; sister, Genieva P. Hamilton of Kentucky; brother, Manfred Ferguson.

A funeral service for James will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Schererville. Visitation will be held Monday, April 3, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 pm also at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
