James "Mickey" Holley, age 64 of Rensselaer passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014. He was born on August 4, 1950 in Bremen, Alabama to the late James L. and Lela Mae Holley. One sister, Gwenda Holley preceded him in death. James retired from the U.S. Navy where he had worked as a photographer. He was a member and served as Secretary for many years at the Dunes Masonic Lodge #741 in Portage. James was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Olive Chapter #396 where he was currently serving as Worthy Patron. He loved photography, cooking, motorcycle riding, and animals. James was a friend to all.
He is survived by one son, Michael (fiancé Nicole Bierman) Holley of Highland, IN; one brother, Joseph L. (Judy) Holley of Russellville, AL; close friends, Ann and John Marcrom of Lake Station, IN; Ronald "Tiny" Apathy of DeMotte, IN; numerous grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Maggie.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Navy Military Honors will be performed at 7 p.m. A Masonic Service and an Eastern Star service will immediately follow. Cremation will follow with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
