James Leslie Madison, age 65, of Crown Point and formerly of Hobart, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017. Jim was born October 17, 1951 in Valparaiso, IN to James P. and Dorothy (Staley) Madison. Jim was an Environmental Specialist retired from the British Petroleum, Whiting refinery. The kindest man with the biggest heart, he loved fiercely. He loved a good project, yard work, painting, and refurbishing. He knew not a stranger and could light up a room with his smile. His legacy and love is continued on this earth by those that love him.
Jim is survived by his father, James P. (Jean) Madison of Hobart; brother, Patrick (Jane) Madison of Macon, GA; Fiancée, Karen Andrews of Crown Point; Niece, Faith, and Nephew, James Michael (Megan) Madison; Great Niece, Catherine Madison, and Step Sister, Crystal Kulavick.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; brother, Michael; wife, Linda (Brown) Madison and son, Christopher Michael Madison.
Memorial visitation will be held from 10:30am to 12:30pm Friday May 5, 2017 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. Memorial services will be at 12:30pm Friday at the Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Richwine officiating. Following with burial at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts are preferred to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
