James Paul McNamara
Age 87 of Portage passed away on March 11, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of James and Louise (nee Schuch) McNamara. With a remarkable work ethic, he dedicated over 40 yrs of service to United States steel, retiring and then pursued a role as a bus attendant for the Portage School System. He was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Church in Portage. Nonetheless, his family consistently remained his utmost priority. As a father, he was supportive, and as a grandfather was exceptional. Golfing and enjoying sports were among his favorite pastimes.
He is survived by his four children, James (Frances) McNamara, Lynn (Tom) Drapac, Janine McNamara, and Jennifer McNamara; 14 grandchildren, Jack, Eli, Michella (Jason), Samantha (Paul), Julia, Diana (Kevin), Martha, Adam, Angela, Stephan, Catherine, Madeline, Henry and Paxton and five great grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Dombrowski and many other loving family members and friends.
James was preceded by his first wife, Lucienne (nee Wisniewski) McNamara, second wife Janis V. (nee Randon) McNamara, his parents and brother-in-law Joseph Dombrowski.
Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave., Portage on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Prayers will be held at Rees Olson Chapel on Monday, March 17, 2025, at 9:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church (2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage) at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Kevin McCarthy officiating. The burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
