James H. Parnell Jr., age 61, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Portage. James was a lifelong Hobart resident and proudly served his country in the United States Navy and a member of American Legion Post 100.
James is survived by his children, Lisa (Richard) Harshaw of Gary, Tammy (Dave) Llamas of Lake Station, David (Ann) Parnell of Hobart, and Jennifer (Donta) Parnell of Miller; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard (Sherrie) Parnell of Lake Station Leroy (Juanita) Parnell of Lake Station and Delbert (Irene) Parnell of Oxford, Arkansas; two sisters, Mary Lou Parnell of Gary and Carol Lynn (Greg) Neal of Tremble, Tennessee.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Linda S. Parnell.
Funeral service will be Monday, December 19, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. with Chaplain Martin Glennon officiating at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart, Indiana 46342.
