James "Jim" R. Vogel, age 86, of Chesterton and Lake Station passed away Saturday September 30, 2017. James was born May 3, 1931 in Fayette County, Illinois to the late John and Lois (Augenstine) Vogel. Jim was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was an electrician that worked out of IBEW Local Union #697. Jim was also a former member of American Legion Post #100 and VFW Post #9323.

James is survived by two daughters, Leslie (George) Daniels of Lake Station and Stacy J. Vogel of Chesterton.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Ida; son, Mathew; and two brothers, Clyde and John Vogel.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday October 5, 2017 at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel 3781 Central Avenue Lake Station, Indiana 46405 with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Blake Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
