JAMES G. "SCOTTY" CONWAY, age 78, of Valparaiso, passed away, Friday, January 8, 2016 at VNA Hospice. He was born on May 8, 1937 in Lanark, Scotland. Scotty served in the US Army and was retired from US Steel, Gary Works. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and was affectionately known as the "little big man". Scotty had an unforgettable sense of humor and will be remembered as a loving, husband, father, stepdad, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Clara (nee Schultz); 3 children, Rhonda (Kevin) Curtis, Karen (Lee) Jones, all of Schererville, Patrick (Brenna) Conway of Three Oaks, MI; 4 stepchildren, Karen (Charley) Czadzeck of Kenosha, WI, Malinda (Bill) Fucheck of Houston, TX, Dee Dee (Scott) Seip of Kenosha, WI, and Ed (Jackie) Crook of Ft. Worth, TX; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald Potrebic of Hobart; niece, Heather (Charles) Isley of Valparaiso.
Scotty was preceded in death by his parents, George and Catherine Conway; sister, Ellen Potrebic; nephew, Nick Potrebic.
A funeral service for James will be Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 12 Noon at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake Station, with Pastor Rick Oliver officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
