Jane Ellen DeGan, age 83, of Portage and formerly of Miller Beach passed away Sunday November 18, 2012 in Crown Point, Indiana at the St. Anthony's Hospice Center. She was born March 13, 1929 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Carl H. and Katherine (Hartke) Krueger. On April 25, 1948 she married Thomas A. DeGan in Gary. She was a member of the Wirt High School Graduates of 1946 Social Club, the Stacks Lanes Bowlers and was an avid Bears fan. Jane was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Jane was the beloved mother of 5 children.
Jane is survived by 3 sons; Thomas (Verlane) DeGan, II of Cedar Lake, John (Pat) DeGan of Schererville and Terry (Lezlie) DeGan of Marietta, GA; 2 daughters Cynthia DeGan of Portage and Laura DeGan of Lake Station; 6 grandchildren Michael, Christina, Aaron, Sean, Meghan and Dylan; 2 brothers Dr. John E. Krueger of Bloomington and Tom Krueger of Madison, WI.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas, parents and Grandson Tommy A. DeGan, III.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 26, 2012 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with Pastor Jerry Greer officiating.
