Jane Griffith

Bertha Jane Griffith (nee Ragon), age 90, of Rensselaer, IN and formerly of Hammond, IN passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

Jane was born on October 2, 1932 in Sullivan, IN to the late Ed Ragon and Edna (nee Pelham) Edgins.  She married James F. Griffith, Sr. "Jim" on July 3, 1948 and spent 66 loving years together until his death in 2015.  Jane was a very devoted mother and cared for her home.  She was an avid collector of ceramic animal figurines.  Most of all, Jane loved being with and caring for her children, grandchildren, and even  great-great grandchildren.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Jane is survived by her children: Marie Annette Griffith, Robert Edward (Cynthia) Griffith, Diana Lynn (Richard) Deem, James Franklin (Sallie) Griffith, Jr., Randall Lee (Polly) Griffith, Marguerita Kay (Leroy Wayne) McComas, John Vincent (Ramona) Griffith, Ronald Eugene (Stacey) Griffith, Kevin Harlan Wayne Griffith, and Tammy Jane (Chris) Hixson; 114 total grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Luther Wayne Ragon, Margaret Ann Parsons, and Mary Catherine Joyce; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents: Ed and Edna; 3 miscarried infant children; siblings: Imma Jean Eagle Metz, Kenneth Eagle, Robert Eagle, James "Jim" Eagle, Lula June Scott, Charles Elmer Ragon, George Harlan Ragon, Nola Evelyn Scaggs, and an infant sibling.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Hobart) on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 11:00-1:00.  A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Scott Mauch officiating.  Jane will be laid to rest next to her husband at Evergreen Memorial Park (3815 W 39th Ave, Hobart, IN 46342).
