Jane L. Tkacs, age 84, of Hobart passed away Sunday February 16, 2014 at the Pinnacle Hospital in Crown Point. Jane was born July 24, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late William and Frieda (Hartman) Gallagher. Jane was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She loved listening to music and cheering on the Cubs.

Jane is survived by two sons Vincent "Butch" James of Hobart and Martin William (Judy) James of Portage; her daughter Joni (Glen) Locklear of Hobart; her brother John (Grace) Gallagher of DeMotte; two sisters Betty Greenway of Arlington, TX and Diane German of Hobart; Five grandchildren Stacey (Jeff) Kabbany, Michael (Kristie) Locklear, Jeff Coleman, Jason (Fallon) Coleman and Tawnya Locklear; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her two husbands Vincent James, Sr. and Thomas Tkacs; her parents William Gallagher and Frieda Maloney; and her daughter Gayle Chabes.

Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday February 20, 2014 at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN 46342 with Father Andrew J. Corona officiating. Burial will follow in Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana. Visitation is from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
