Jane M. Williams, age 97, of Portage, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021. She was born in Remington, Indiana on June 2, 1924 to the late John and Gertrude (nee Payne) Shuey. She was a United States Cadet Nurse in World War II. Jane was a Jehovah's Witness and was said to be spiritually and emotional supportive. She taught patience and forgiveness and will be remembered as an amazing grandmother. She loved crocheting and sewing, and even made and sold her own clothes and quilts. Jane was a speed reader and could get through a book a day. She enjoyed gardening, growing, and freezing her own strawberries. She was a talented cook and even taught Sandy how to make pierogis. She never once turned down a piece of cake!
Jane's legacy includes her grandchildren, Bryan (Sandy) Kenzie, Shelley (Pat) Dunn; four great grandchildren, including Will Kenzie and Skylar Dunn; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; The Wirtz Family; Trouble P.I.T.A., Missy the Black Cat; and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Leo Kenzie, Frederick Kenzie; and five siblings.
Cremation has been entrusted to Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 219-762-3013.
