Janet K. Barkowski (nee Jackson), age 71 of Portage passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012. She was born on June 25, 1940 in Watseca, Illinois to the late Alby William and Beatrice Jackson. Janet worked as the city planner for Portage. She was a member of Nativity of Our Savior.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 52 years, Jerome A. Barkowski of Portage, IN; 2 daughters, Donna (Michael) Johnson of Portage,IN; Mary Wentz of Cincinnati, OH; 2 brothers, Bob (Mary) Jackson of Lake City, MI; Ron (Kathy) Jackson of Hobart, IN; 2 sisters, Beverly (Gerald) Marrietta of Hebron, IN; Elaine (Mike) Didelot of MI; 1 sister-in-law, Sandy Jackson of Portage, IN; 5 grandchildren, Brandon Collins, Danielle and Nathan Johnson, and Bryan and Paige Wentz.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and 1 brother, William Jackson.
Funeral services are Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. directly at Nativity of Our Savior, 2949 Willowcreek, Portage with Rev. Andrew Corona officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation is Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Rosary service at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage.
