Janet I. Hudson, age 78, a resident of Portage, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012. She was born on April 19, 1934 in Hammond, Indiana, the daughter of Charles and Irene Hudson. Janet worked for A.T.& T. in both accounting and customer service, retiring in 1982 after 30 years of service. Janet was also involved as a member of the Pioneers Retirement Club and she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart. Janet originally resided in Chicago, after she moved to Sarasota, then came back to Hobart for many years, before moving up to Oak Lawn. She loved to make dolls for herself and her family, and enjoyed taking her nieces and nephews on adventures to fun places.

Janet is survived by her loving family; sisters Mary (Arnold) Schroeder, Portage, Indiana, Florence (Frank) Domzalski, Orland, Illinois, Margee Jean Mattull, Thonotosassa, Florida, and Virginia (Robert) Babcock, Braidwood, Illinois, brothers Charles (Alice) Hudson, Jr., North Port, Florida, Bert (Betty) Hudson, Venice, Florida, Richard Hudson, North Port, Florida, George (Jonell) Hudson, Griffith, Indiana, and Michael Hudson, Sarasota, Florida, numerous nieces and nephews, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Irene Hudson, her sister Dorothy Narancich, and brother James Hudson.

Private family services were held and according to Janet's wishes she was cremated. Memorials in Janet's memory may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Aseracare Hospice.
