Janet Luedtke, age 83, longtime resident of Hobart passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Saint Mary's Medical Center in Hobart. She was born to Walter and Ila Hutson on January 19, 1933 in Gary, Indiana. Janet was the first women mail carrier for Hobart, Lifelong member of the PTA Liberty School, Brownie Leader, Cub Scout Leader, past President of the Little League Auxiliary, and the former owner of the Treasure House Antiques and was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, rummaging and gambling. Janet will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Les Luedtke and grandson, Michael.
Janet is survived by her four sons: David (Nancy) Luedtke of Holt, MI, Paul (Holly) Luedtke of Valparaiso, IN, William (Donna) Luedtke of Dyer, IN Randy (Doreen) Luedtke of Portage, IN; daughter, Sandy Brown of Hobart, IN; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Miller of Henderson, NV.; brother-in-law, Charles and wife Joan Luedtke.
A funeral service for Janet will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10:00 am directly at Augustana Lutheran Church, 207 Kelly Street, Hobart, IN with Rev. Charles Strietelmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 3:00-8:00p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana (219) 942-2109 or online to extend condolences at www.reesfuneralhomes.com
