Janice L. Adamski, age 71, of Portage, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 at home. She was born on March 15, 1944 in New Orleans, LA to the late Franklynn and Helen Lanier. On August 26, 1967 she married the love of her life, John Adamski II. Jan will always be remembered by those who love her as a woman who dedicated her life to caring for children. She obtained two Master's degrees in Early Childhood Development and Communications. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Jan was an avid reader.

Jan is survived by her husband, John Adamski II; sons, John Adamski III and Joe (Jill) Adamski; daughters, Jill (Derrick) Lewis and Jocelyn (Brian Rabinowitz) Adamski; grandchildren, Jemma Adamski, Damara Lewis, Derrick Lewis Jr., Daja Lewis and Donovan Lewis; sister in law, Marianne (Tom) Lulinski; close cousin, Dodie (Joe) Smith.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Franklynn and Helen Lanier; two brothers, Franklyn Lanier and Clinton Lanier. Memorial contributions in Jan's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A Mass of Christian Burial for Jan will take place Wednesday, March 9, 2016 with viewing beginning at 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 356 W. 700 N.
