Janice S. Akins

Janice S. Akins (nee Pierce), age 64 of Portage passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017.  She was born on January 6, 1953 in Dyer, TN to the late George and Frances Pierce.  She was formerly of New Chicago and was a graduate of River Forest High School.  Janice moved to Portage where she resided for over 47 years.  She loved visits from her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gary Akins of Portage, IN; one son, Jeff Akins of Lake Station, IN; one daughter, Stacy (Scott) Clark of Portage, IN; two brothers, Roger (Jeri) Pierce of Monterey, IN; Bruce (Sharee) Pierce of Lake Station, IN; grandchildren, Allison (Chris), Tricia, Meagan, Mady, Peyton, Matthew, and Emily, and one great-grandson, Anthoney.
