Janice E. Croll

Janice E. Croll, age 87 of Hobart passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015. She was born on July 21, 1927 in Washington, Indiana to the late Lester and Frances Connerley. She retired in 1986 from Hobart Townships Schools where she had worked as a Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher. Janice was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of Hobart where she sang in the choir, was a member of the UMW and weekly Bible study group. She was a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization "PEO", St. Mary Medical Center Auxiliary, and the Lake County Retired Teachers Association. Janice loved going to the Hobart YMCA where she was active in the Water Walking program. She also loved bird watching, collecting porcelain birds, reading, and watching IU basketball and Chicago Cubs baseball.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Tom Croll of Hobart, IN; 4 children, Nancy (Neil) Bussard of Fort Wayne, IN; William (Charlotte) Croll of Fort Wayne, IN; Barbara (Stanley) Hill of Alexandria, VA; Mary (Chip) Roll of Truckee, CA; 5 grandchildren, Tom, Matt, Kim, Tim, and Jen, and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services are Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Rebecca L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation is Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with additional visitation on the morning of the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
