Janice L. Stewart

Janice Louise Stewart, age 74, of Portage, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 12, 2022.  She was born on November 23, 1947 to the late James and Naomi (nee Zoller) Caughron.  Janice was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Portage and loved singing hymns.  She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and loved watching them play sports.  Janice enjoyed reading, word searches, shopping, and sending cards.  Her children nicknamed her "mamarazzi" because she was always taking pictures for everlasting memories.

Janice is survived by her husband, George Stewart; children, Lisa (Darren) Warne, Brian (Rosie) Gorgei; grandchildren, Ethan (Ashley), Carson, Brett (Presley), Kelsie, Bryce, Kyle; great grandchild, Willow; stepchildren, Jeff (Melanie) Stewart, Mark (Dawn) Stewart, Amy (Brian) Weaver; step grandchildren, Angela, Oliver, Caige, Hannah, Kara, Zax, Atlas; brother, Mark (Michelle) Caughron; special God children, Stacey and Todd; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Karen (Ted) Wienke.

A funeral service will take place Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 am with Rev. Michael Lawson officiating at First United Methodist Church of Portage, 2637 McCool Rd. Portage, IN 46368.  She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.  Visitation will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 3-7 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368.
