Jayne Shirk, 96, passed away peacefully on Sept 20, 2014. She lived 40+ years in Gary, IN, then 8 years in Hobart, Indiana and completed her life near her daughter, Sally (Chris) Noel in Zionsville, IN. Jayne also has one son David (Evelynn) of Stanwood, MI and 6 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard T. Shirk.

Volunteering was a way of life for Jayne. She served as past President of the Lake County Home's volunteer auxiliary, 25 year member of PEO, taught art classes at the Caritas Center Adult Day Care program, was past chairman of the YMCA of Gary volunteer program, and recently served as an Ambassador at Westside Garden Plaza in Indianapolis, IN where she lived her last six years.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that contributions be made to ALS, Hospice, or PEO scholarship fund. A celebration of her life will be held at Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN on Saturday September 27, 2014 at noon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
