J.C. Stanley, age 86, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020, after along battle with Parkinson's. He was born on March 21, 1933 in Scott Co, Virginia to the late McKinley H. and Annie (nee Carter) Stanley. A lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana, J.C. proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. and retired from the Local 1005 Carpenter Union, where he worked as a district counsel organizer. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Portage, Indiana. He was past President of the New Chicago Town Board  , a member of the Portage Moose and Hobart Eagles. He will be remembered as a loving a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his four sons, Jeff (Sue) Stanley, Pat (Mich) Stanley, David (Lisa) Stanley and J.C. Stanley Jr. three daughters, Dixie (Dan) Roszkowski, Debbie Bell and Amy Ruiz; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Stanley , his parents, two brothers, Rudolph and C.O. Stanley and sister, Margaret Stanley.

A funeral service for J.C. will take place Monday, January 27, 2020 at 11:00 am, with Pastor Don Good officiating, at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368.
