Louis Jean Bates, age 89, a resident of the Lake of the Four Seasons, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012. She was born on March 3, 1922 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Don and Ocean Beatrice Hampsher. Jean was married to Rue Kent Bates on January 17, 1945 at City Methodist Church in Gary. Jean was a retired executive secretary for Welsh Oil Company. She was an active member of the Church of the Four Seasons United Methodist.
She is survived by her loving family; daughter Deborah (Bill) Gulley, Lake of the Four Seasons, and grandson William K. Gulley, Lake of the Four Seasons, and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband R. Kent Bates on November 15, 2006, and her son Richard C. Bates on April 16, 1963.
