Jean Ann Gobin (nee Howkins), age 87, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at her home. She was born in Coventry, England on July 16, 1927 to the late George and Hilda (nee Brown) Howkins. On August 1, 1945 Jean married the love of her life John James Gobin in Coventry, England. She enjoyed reading, Bunco, Bowling, Bingo and the Casino. Jean dedicated her life to her family she will deeply be missed.
Jean is survived by four daughters, Adraid (Aurelio) Mendoza of Portage, Toni (Bruce) Creasy of Portage, Linda (Douglas) Dick of Valparaiso, and Barbara Beach of Portage; sister, Ann Howkins Baker of Coventry, England ; eleven grandchildren, Michael (Nancy) Mendoza, Steven (Erin) Mendoza, Melissa (Anthony) Samuta, Suzanne (Ted) Myers, Jamie Lynn (Abdelilah) Elharit, John (Kimberly) Creasy, Stephanie (Rob) Rogan, Kelly (Justin) Hart, Lynsey (Jesse) Thomann, Christopher James Beach and Megan Lynn Beach, 23 great- grandchildren and other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband John James Gobin, her parents, two sisters, Joan (Stan) Bartlett, Mary Howkins Warner and two brothers, George Thomas Howkins and Alan Howkins.
In lieu of flowers donations to ALS or to the VNA Hospice would be appreciated.
A funeral service for Jean will be Friday, October 17, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
