Jeanette M. (nee Wheeler) Gorman, age 95, of Portage, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017. She was born on March 31, 1922 in Trenton, Missouri to Walter and Patsy Wheeler. Jeanette was very patriotic and proudly served her country in the United States Navy during World War II. She retired from the Dunes National Lakeshore after 22 years of working as the executive secretary to the head ranger. She always had a benevolent nature and positive spirit despite the odds. As the single mother of six children, she found the time to volunteer in her community and she found the money to donate to the local food pantry because those things were important to her. She will always be remembered for her dedication to family and the wonderful stories she would tell that only got better as she aged.
Jeanette is survived by her children, Catherine Head, Maureen (Larry) Wendrickx, Joseph P. Gorman, Patricia J. Gorman, Timothy R. (Tracee) Gorman, Michael W. (Judy) Gorman ; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Virginia Bonta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Patsy Wheeler; 7 brothers and 4 sisters.

Memorial visitation for Jeanette will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
