Obituary

Jeanette Holderman Johnson, age 85, of Elkhart, Indiana passed away, Tuesday, February 5, 2013. She was born April 23, 1927 in Bremen, Indiana to Otis and Hermina (Feldon) Holderman.

Jeanette graduated from Bremen High School and attended Indiana University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She married David L. Johnson of Nappanee on July 20, 1947. They lived in Lafayette before moving to Elkhart in 1948. She worked at Elkhart Brass until the birth of their children. Jeanette was a member of Tri-Kappa, serving as recording secretary, volunteered as a "Pink Coat" and is a lifetime member of the Elkhart General Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Braille Committee. Jeanette also did the book reviews of the Literary Guild of Elkhart County for many years.

Jeanette is survived by her husband of 65 years, David L. Johnson; children: Craig C. Johnson of Cary, Illinois and Jill (Bruce) Nix of Crown Point, Indiana; grandchildren: David (Candace) Johnson, Sean Johnson, Carrie Johnson, Kevin Nix and Russell (Brittany) Nix; great-grandchildren: Mason and James Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sue Holderman Mace.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 5 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St., Crown Point, IN 46307. Rev. Harold Clevenger, officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
