Jeffery David Sutter

Jeffery David “Jeff” Sutter, age 72, of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 13, 2026. He was born on September 21, 1953, in Hammond, Indiana, to the late John and Doris (nee Hertzer) Sutter.

Jeff was a retired burner for Bethlehem Steel. He was a true “good people” kind of guy who had a way of making everyone feel like an old friend. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time on the water. Jeff was also a talented drummer and played in many bands throughout the years. He loved to cook, enjoyed gambling, and could always appreciate a good Aurelio’s Pizza and a cold beer.

Above all, Jeff was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his easygoing nature, his love of music and fishing, his sense of humor, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met. Jeff leaves behind many wonderful memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

On December 10, 1993, Jeff married his beloved wife, Carol, in Merrillville. She survives him, along with his two sons, Ben (Jaclyn) Sutter and Josh Sutter; two grandchildren, Hannah (Wyatt) Johns and Nicholas Sutter; sister, Chris Randle; and many loving friends.
