Jeffrey Smith, age 39, lifelong resident of Portage, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020. He was born on May 19, 1981 in Merrillville, Indiana. Jeff was a 1999 graduate of Portage High School. He was currently employed as a refrigeration mechanic for his father's company Old School Refrigeration. Jeff loved electronics and computers. He was an especially talented graphic artist and made calligraphy look simple.

He is survived by his loving mother, Joan (Dennis) Dipert; father, Anthony Smith; brother, Jimmy Smith; maternal grandparents, Charles and Ethele Swallow; paternal grandmother, Sandra Smith; many other loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and 2 dogs, Milo and L.B.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ed Smith and his maternal great grandparents, Delos and Eileen Swallow.
