Jeffrey Stack
Jeffrey L. Stack, age 66, of Hobart passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was born on July 21, 1949 in Gary, Indiana to the late Loren and Velma Stack. At the age of five, they moved to Hobart and he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from HHS in 1967. In July of '67, he hired in at U.S. Steel as a motor inspector operator. He worked there for 36 years. Jeff was in Boy Scouts Explorer Troup 91. He joined the Air Force in May '71 and served until November '74 as a law enforcement officer. In November of 1969, he met his wife, Sherry, who was the love of his life. They married on September 5, 1970. This past September, they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. They have one daughter, Christie Sullivan and two grandchildren. Jeff was a member of the North Porter County Conservation Club, Vietnam Veterans of America, Life Member of the NRA and an NRA firearms instructor.
He is survived by his wife: Sherry Stack; daughter: Christie (Doug) Sullivan; two grandchildren: Keira and Kaleigh; precious grandpuppies and many other loving family members and friends.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Velma Stack. Memorial contributions in Jeff's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.
A funeral service for Jeff will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 at 11:30 am at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana with Pastor Jerry Cleek officiating. Entombment to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
