Jennie M. Evanovich, age 87, of Hobart, passed away August 25, 2015, at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso. She was born August 4, 1928 in Gary, Indiana to the late Stanley and Ann (nee Vorchoski) Grochowski. Jennie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Jennie is survived by her four sons, Rick of Gary, John (Diane) of Valparaiso, Michael of Hobart and George Evanovich of Valparaiso; five daughters, Judy Schiess of Reno, Nevada, Kathy (George) Marks of Hobart, Celeste Anderson of Portage, Georgetta Carter of Arkansas and Christine (Ronnie) Muller of Arkansas, 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Agnes) Grochowski of Demotte; special friends, Jeff and Beth Jones and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Evanovich, her parents; four brothers, Joe, George, Walter and John Grochowski and sister, Stella Sczinski.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Jennie's memory may be made to VNA Horton Hospice in Valparaiso.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN with Rev. David Gosnell officiating. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. also at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
