Jermie Thomas Murray
It is with both heavy hearts and a sense of celebration that we announce the
passing of Jermie Thomas Murray. Jermie peacefully departed this world,
leaving behind a legacy defined by love, laughter, and countless cherished
moments. Born on October 2, 1979, Jermie filled our lives with his vibrant spirit for 44
years before bidding us farewell on February 1, 2024. Spending the last 28
years of his life with his loving wife, Amy, they shared a beautiful daughter,
his pride and joy, Alyssa Murray-Kunkle (Austen Kunkle). His brother Robert
Murray Jr. (Brandi), along with his parents, Robert Murray Sr. (Leisa) and
Linda Jackson (Ken), mourn the departure of a beloved son and brother. In
addition, he leaves behind his Grandmother Shirley Carter, numerous aunts
and uncles, and a multitude of nieces and nephews, a testament to the
family bonds he held dear. Jermie never met a stranger, and his ability to turn strangers into lifelong
friends filled his life with numerous people that he held as close as family. He
was preceded in death by his niece Ariel Selva and good friend Patrick
Palowski. A fearless warrior, Jermie faced off against cancer with a spirit as resilient as
his sense of humor. He carried the weight of his battle with a lightness that
inspired everyone who shared in his journey. A proud member of the
International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local Union 460, Jermie
shared his talents with his family and many members of the community.
While boating Lake Michigan was his favorite escape, Jermie's true joy was
found in the camaraderie of friends. His life was a series of adventures, each
unfolding with laughter, shared moments, and a touch of the unexpected.
As a true testament to Jermie's strength and determination, he was front and
center at the celebration of his daughter Alyssa's wedding just the evening
before his passing. Surrounded by family and friends, the celebration echoed
with the joy, love, and infectious spirit that defined Jermie's presence.
As we bid farewell to Jermie, let's raise a glass to the laughter he shared, the
love he sprinkled like confetti, and the delightful chaos he brought into our
lives. In the spirit of the man who never took life too seriously, let's celebrate
the joy he gifted us. In honor of Jermie Thomas Murray's vibrant spirit and love for life, a
celebration of his remarkable journey will be held at a later date, when the
weather is more conducive to his favorite pastime – boating. We invite
friends, family, and all those touched by Jermie's infectious joy to join us in
commemorating his life on the open waters, the place where he found peace. Arrangements are entrusted to Rees Funeral Home and Cremation services, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. (219) 942-2109 or online
