Jerome "Jerry" Barkowski, age 75, of Portage, passed away Thursday, May 8 2014. He was born on October 24, 1938 in Indiana Harbor to Clement and Antoinette (nee Horabik) Barkowski. He was a retired Mechanical Repair Tech at Midwest Steel. He was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Church in Portage and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9114 and was a master of all trades.
He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Wentz and Donna (Mike) Johnson both of Portage; two brothers, Raymond (Peg) Barkowski of Florida and Norbert (Janice) Barkowski of Munster; five grandchildren, Paige and Bryan Wentz, Brandon Collins and Danielle and Nathan Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janet K. (nee Jackson) Barkowski and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 12,2014 at 10:00 am directly at Nativity of Our Savior, 2949 Willowcreek Portage with Rev. Andrew Corona officiating. Cremation will follow.
