Jerome J. Shoppa

Jerome Shoppa, age 68, of Hobart, passed away Saturday November 28, 2015. He was born on January 5, 1947 to the late John and Mary (nee Kazmerski) Shoppa. Jerome was a member of the U.S. Army and served his country in Vietnam. He was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church, and the Vietnam Vets #905, VFW #5365. Jerome loved spending time with his family, fishing in Minnesota, and bowling. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Jerome is survived by his loving wife Veralyn (nee Strouse) Shoppa of Hobart; two sons, Phillip (Tammy) Shoppa of Crown Point and Michael (April) Shoppa of Valparaiso; eight grandchildren, Justin Willis, Cindy Willis, Kaylee Shoppa, Alysa Shoppa, Alexandria Shoppa, Maryssa Shoppa, Tristin Pruznak and Ashlee Pruznak; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Brooklyn, Bentley and Calli; brother, John (Greta) Shoppa of Florida and many other loving family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Pruznak; two brothers, Frank and Joe Shoppa.
A funeral service for Jerome will take place Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 11 am at Rees Funeral Home Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Road Indiana, 46342. Visitations for Jerome will take place Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 2:00 -8:00 pm also at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart, Chapel. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
