Jerry L. Evans

Jerry Lee Evans, age 80, of Hobart, passed away Friday, December 8, 2023. He was born on March 15, 1943, in Gary, Indiana to the late Jeff and Thelma Evans. He was a 1960 graduate of River Forest High School.  On August 7, 1965, he married Donna Evans in Hobart. Jerry was a dedicated tradesman and worked as a Journeyman Meat Cutter. He retired from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union after 41 years. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Evans; sons, Michael (Sheri) Evans of Valparaiso, Richard (Milissa) Evans of Bad Axe, MI, Jerry Lee (Diane) Evans of Wheatfield; daughter, Vikki (Paul) Hegan of Valparaiso; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Garry Martin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Thelma Evans; brothers, Bob and Bill Evans; sisters, Regina Evans, Linda Cohen; daughter, Regina M. Ross; grandson, Stephen Evans; great grandson, Joey Coleman, Jr. Memorial contributions in Jerry's name may be made to Grace Church of the Nazarene or to the family.

A funeral service for Jerry will take place Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Mark Hostetler officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
