Jerry Allan Mathews, age 52, of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, January 20, 2020. He was born on December 29, 1967 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Larry and Mary Mathews. He was a 1985 graduate of Portage High School. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty years. He was a huge Star Wars fan. Jerry was currently employed as a maintenance technician for the Portage Wal Mart.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (nee D'Aloisio) Mathews; daughters, Nicolle (fiancé, Frank Miller) Mathews, Nicole (Kevin Douglas) Pence; grandchildren, Andrew and Oliver Miller, Cody, Harmony and Ripley Pence; brothers, Gary (Jennifer) Mathews, Terry (Theresa) Mathews; nieces and nephews, Nathan (Taylor) Mathews, Tyler (Cassie) Mathews, Jory (Megumi) Mathews, Aaron (Britne) Mathews, Amber Mathews, Sean (Brianna) Mathews; great nieces and great nephews, Aden, Aralynn, Taichi, Kai and Lexi. Jerry also leaves behind the entire D'Aloisio family, to whom he was a loving uncle and brother-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Mary Mathews; son, Jacob Mathews; sister, Sherry Mathews.  Memorial contributions in Jerry's name may be made to the family to help with the cost of funeral services.

A memorial service for Jerry will take place Friday, January 24, 2020 at 4:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage.
