Jesse Joe Nugent, age 82, of Hobart, IN, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022. Jesse was born on March 4, 1940, in Hawesville, KY to the late Joseph and Mellissa Ellen (nee Craft) Nugent.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and in the United States Army. He retired from National Steel Midwest Division in Portage, IN after working as a millwright for many years.  He then went on to work as a liaison in human resources between the company and the International Union, District 7. Jesse was a member of the American Legion Post 94 in Valparaiso and he also served as a former vice-president of United Steelworkers Local 6103.  On December 3, he married the love of his life, Dortha "Dottie" (nee Fronczak) Nugent, and they spent 49 loving years together. Jesse had a passion for working on cars and engines, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going gambling. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren, they often referred to him as the "Papa Who Could Fix Anything."  Jesse was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jesse is survived by his wife: Dottie; children: Jo Lynne (Jeff) Brock, Jeff (Kim) Nugent, Tami McKee, Troy Nugent, and Joe (Trisha) Nugent; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Francis and Georgia and many other loving family members and friends. Jesse was preceded in death by his children, Kimberly Nugent and Timothy Fronczak; his parents, Joseph and Mellissa Ellen Nugent; brother Charles Lawrence Nugent Sr., and sister Katherine Dowell.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W Old Ridge Rd, Hobart, IN 46342. A funeral service for Jesse will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobert Chapel and burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Portage immediately following.
