Jessie Dee Allen
Age 90, of Hobart, Indiana passed away on February 9, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 28, 1935, in Doniphan, Missouri to the late Daniel and Dolly Mae (nee Gordon) Allen. Jessie dedicated thirty-two years of his life to U.S. Steel, where he worked his way up from broom sweeper to foreman, a testament to his strong work ethic, determination, and character. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, entering service in 1954. After his release from active duty, he continued his commitment to service in the Army Reserve, completing a total of eight years of military service. A man of deep and unwavering faith, Jessie attended Valparaiso Baptist Church and made it his personal mission to share his love for God with everyone he met. He was passionate about helping others find salvation and was known for always encouraging people to come to Christ.
Jessie loved God, his family and his country. He enjoyed fishing, fixing things and helping anyone in need. A true giver, he found joy in serving others, always repairing, building, and lending a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. He also loved country music and bluegrass gospel.
Jessie will be remembered as a faithful servant, devoted family man, and generous soul whose life reflected love, service, and devotion to God.
Jessie is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Loretta (nee Drysdale) Allen; three daughters, Melessia (Tim) Tabla, Dolly (Dewey) Tabla and Michelle (Andrew Voeltz) Allen; three grandsons, Mitchell (Kelly) Tabla, Tyler Madsen and Connor Tabla; two great granddaughters, Hannah Joy and Gracie Evangeline Tabla and many other loving family members and friends.
Jessie was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard, Betty Ophelia “Pete”, Georgia, Arlyn, Thelma, Mary Fay, Elsie, Violia and his twin sister, Dessie.

A funeral for Jessie will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. A visitation for Jessie will also be held Friday, February 13, 2026, from 10:00 am until the time of service also at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
