Jessie M. Chavez

Jessie M. Chavez, age 69, of Hobart passed away Wednesday July 20, 2016 at St. Mary Medical Center. Jessie was born November 10, 1946 in Brownsville, TX to the late Jesus and Maria (Garcia) Chavez, Sr. He was an employee of US Steel for 39 years of service as a supervisor and 12 years with IMS. Jessie was an avid bowler, fisherman, and pool player. He dearly loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Jessie is survived by his loving wife Janis; three sons, Anthony (Patty) Chavez of Stafford, VA, Joseph (Bea) Chavez of Munster and Terry (Rosalyn) Chavez of Merrillville; eight grandchildren, Nicholas (Mary), Natalie, Timothy, Leah, Kelli, Courtney, Camille and Cameron; one brother; five sisters; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy, parents, Jesus and Maria, and brother Mario Chavez, Sr.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, Sunday July 24, 2016 at Rees Funeral Homes, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. Funeral services will be at 3:00 at the Funeral Home.
