Jesus Anthony "Jesse" Pedroza, Sr., age 64, of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025 while surrounded by his family. He was born on November 20, 1960 to the late Joe and Delia Pedroza. He graduated from River Forest High School and then proudly served in the US Army. He was married to Milta Pedroza on July 31, 1982, whom he loved dearly. Jesse and Milta loved dancing, and were known to win trophies at various competitions.  Jesse grew up and received his sacraments at St. Francis Xavier in Lake Station, and was currently a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso. He had a passion for sports, playing basketball and running track in his younger years, and watching his favorite teams the White Sox and Bears. Jesse was always up for anything to do with being outside, and especially enjoyed fishing and camping. Jesse was an advocate for anyone and everyone in need. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

Jesse is survived by his wife of 43 years, Milta Pedroza; 4 children, Rosalinda Pedroza, Guillermo (Yvette) Pedroza, Jesse Pedroza, Jr., and Albert Pedroza; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Irene Pena, Elliott (Milagros) Pedroza, Samuel (Doris) Pedroza, Rueben (Teresa) Pedroza, Delia (Isaac) Rosado, Frances Vega, Sylvia Pedroza; brother-in-law, Edwin (Carmen) Gonzalez; 2 sisters-in-law, Marian Gonzalez and AnaDelia (Eduardo) Garza;  numerous nieces, nephews, and many cousins; special friends, DJ Bob and Roberto Otero.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Delia Pedroza; and siblings, Harry Pedroza, Sr., Richard Pedroza, Francisco Pedroza, Emily Orosco, Joe Pedroza, and Eva DeLeon; also preceding him in death were beloved nieces and nephews from earlier generations, and in recent years, two nephews and a niece who remained close to Jesse's heart.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family of Jesse Pedroza, Sr.

There will be visitation for Jesse on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Funeral services will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jaime Perea officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home and cremation will take place at a later time. Jesse will be laid to rest in a private graveside at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
