Jewel Turley, age 81, of Lake Station, passed away at home on Monday, June 26, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Freedona, Kentucky on June 18, 1936 to the late Calvin and Velda (nee Patton) Turley. Jewel retired from US Steel. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the casino and fishing.
Jewel is survived by five daughters, Rhonda Ferjo of Merrillville, Linda (John) Beck of Portage, June (Joe) Heath of Kansas, Sue (Charles) Nuzzo of Lake Station, Michelle (Joe) Walkowiak of Portage; sister, Hilda (Richard) Cox of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother, Roscoe Turley of Hebron; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Violet Sanchez, Mary Frances Turley; brothers, David Turley, Scottie Turley, Freddie Turley; and sister in law, Toni Turley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
A funeral service for Jewel will take place Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368 with Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating.
